The Queen's Centre for Business Venturing, in conjunction with HR consulting company Hewitt Associates, released its list this week of the best small and medium-sized employers in the country.
Canada's ‘Green 30’ are the organizations whose employees are most positive about their record on environmental stewardship based on data compiled by Hewitt Associates, a global human resources consulting and outsourcing company. The list was compiled from employee feedback using Hewitt's Employee Green Index, which focuses on employers' strategies, activities and efforts to minimize the environmental impact of their operations, products and services.

For his many years of dedicated service and outstanding contributions to the engineering profession in Alberta, Charles Henry Weir was honoured with the CEA (Consulting Engineers of Alberta) 2013 Lieutenant Governor’s Award for Distinguished Achievement at the CEA Showcase Awards Gala, on January 26, 2013.
Opus International Consultants (Opus) has completed the purchase of Canadian land surveying, engineering and environmental consultancy Stewart Weir. The acquisition, including all legal entities, will add some 550 staff and 6 offices in Canada, bringing the Opus Canadian team to around 700 staff in 16 offices, and the Opus global team to more than 3,000 staff and 91 offices worldwide.
Opus Stewart Weir won an Award of Merit at this year’s Consulting Engineers of Alberta Showcase Awards Gala held on February 6, 2014. Efforts for providing the much needed aid during the Southern Alberta Floods this summer were recognized for ‘Community Outreach and In-House Initiatives’. The team donated more than 700 volunteer hours over a span of one month period.
Brian Pearse, President of Opus Stewart Weir has been elected as Vice-President of the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA). The association has more than 73,000 Members, and has been regulating the practices of Professional Engineering and Geoscience in Alberta since 1920.
Opus Stewart Weir is proud to announce the recent election of Rob Lonson to the Consulting Engineers of Alberta (CEA) Board of Directors. Rob Lonson is the Vice President of Engineering with over 22 years in Heavy Civil, Highway and Municipal Infrastructure experience. Rob grew up in Alberta and graduated from the University of Alberta with a BSc. in Civil Engineering (Co-op). He has lived in many cities and has worked on projects across Alberta and British Columbia.
