In 2009 we were appointed to design an extension to the existing Christchurch Women's Hospital
Six years earlier it was us who completed the Christchurch Women's hospital building.
The project called for a fast-track approach where the design process continued long after construction had begun on site. We were tasked with creating as much extra floor space as possible at second and third floor levels.
This additional space was to be contained within the existing wedge-shaped void between the buildings. In the final design we provided an additional 326sqm including a urology ward and a birth recovery ward.
